Hughes vs Gracie Likely for April’s UFC 112 Event in Abu Dhabi

It looks like the long awaited fight between former welterweight champion Matt Hughes and Renzo Gracie will most likely happen in April at UFC 112. The event will likely take place in Abu Dhabi-the first event held in the country.
Hughes responded on his website:
“On April 10th I will be fighting Renzo Gracie in Abu Dhabi. I haven’t signed any paperwork and I don’t think Renzo has either; but I think this fight is going to happen. That’s all I know, serious training will start for me at the new year.”
Gracie’s last fight was against Frank Shamrock in Elite XC. He won after Shamrock was disqualified by a knee to Gracie’s head when he was grounded. This is Gracie’s UFC debut and will be his first MMA fight in almost three years.
Hughes’s last fight was against Matt Serra at UFC 98. He won by unanimous decision. Before that, he lost to Thiago Alves at UFC 85 and Georges St. Pierre at UFC 79.
