UFC 110: ‘NOGUEIRA vs VELASQUEZ’ is scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. The Main Event will feature Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira taking on the undefeated Cain Velasquez plus Michael Bisping vs Wanderlei Silva and Keith Jardine vs. Ryan Bader.

UFC 110 ‘NOGUEIRA vs VELASQUEZ’ is scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Acer Arena, Australia. The Main Event will feature Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira taking on Cain Velasquez plus Wanderlei Silva vs Michael Bisping and Mirko Cro Cop vs Ben Rothwell.

The UFC just confirmed five fights for UFC 110, scheduled for February 20th in Sydney Australia.

Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira (32-5-1) will still face Cain Velasquez (7-0) in the main event.

Nogueira is coming off a win over Randy Couture (by decision) at UFC 102. He put on a great performance, especially after his previous fight where he lost to Frank Mir at UFC 92. Velasquez is still undefeated, beating Cheick Kongo at UFC 99 and most recently Ben Rothwell at UFC 104. Velasquez has dominated through the heavyweight division utilizing his wrestling but has yet to face a true jiu jitsu technician like Nogueira. We’ll see just how good Cain’s abilities are at UFC 110.

Wanderlei Silva (32-10-1) will go up against Michael Bisping (19-2) as the co-main event. Silva hasn’t looked great since his knockout of Keith Jardine at UFC 84. Most recently, he beat Rich Franklin by decision at UFC 99, but is was long and drawn out. Bisping, on the other hand, rebounded from being knocked out by Dan Henderson at UFC 100 and put on a dominating performance at UFC 105 by beating Denis Kang. Two notes worth mentioning: this is Wanderlei’s first fight since his facial surgery as well as his first fight at middleweight.

Keith Jardine (14-7) vs Ryan Bader (11-0)

Mirko Cro Cop (25-7-2) vs Ben Rothwell (30-7)

Elis Sinosic (8-9-2) vs Chris Haseman (20-16)

Legendary Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will face Ben Rothwell at UFC 110 on Febuary 20th.

Rothwell made his UFC debut at UFC 104 against Cain Velasquez and loss to a referee (Steve Mazzagatti) stoppage that he disagreed with. Cro Cop most recently lost to Junior Dos Santos at UFC 103 and rumors spread that Cro Cop would retire after that fight (fortunately, untrue).

Rothwell will be the larger opponent, standing at 6′4 and usually weighing in at 265 pounds. Cro Cop stands at 6′2 and weighs in around 220 pounds.

The event will take place in Sydney, Australia and is the UFC’s first event there.

Mir says that he respects Carwin and sees him as a better version of Lesnar:

“Carwin is a phenomenal match-up, and I think if I can’t fight Brock again to show that I’ve made improvements against that style, I think Shane Carwin is a more than an ample substitution. If anything, I think he’s a better version.”

Carwin wrote on his blog that he sees Mir as a good opponent and a talented fighter. But would he fight him?

“The answer is easy YES! I am not a fighter who decides who he fights, I fight who I am told to fight. I like it that way, I am not trying to build a legacy I am trying to fight the best fighters in the World and determine where I fit in. Mir is a Multiple time Champion, who has been counted out more then Mike Tyson to only find himself right back at the top. He is a LEGEND of the sport and I would be honored to fight him.”

With Lesnar recovering from a severe illness, the possibility of a Mir/Carwin bout becomes more and more likely. In the meantime, we’re waiting for Nogueira vs Velasquez, slated for UFC 110. The winner of that bout will undoubtedly get a shot at the heavyweight title.
