Sherk Fires Back at the Idea of an Interim Belt

Written by UFCscene

MMAWeekly has an interesting interview with Sean Sherk where he discusses his feelings toward the CSAC & the Interim Belt.

“To be honest, even an interim title doesn’t make me too happy. This belt hasn’t been taken away from me, it’s still my belt. If I get cleared from my hearing to fight, I’m eligible to fight right now, so I don’t think that the idea of an interim title … it doesn’t make me too happy. I’ll just have to fight whoever wins that fight. If somebody wants to wrap that belt around their waist and call themselves champion, I think it should be me. Otherwise, it’s just a little fake belt.”

As we reported earlier B.J. Penn had some harsh words for Sean Sherk in an interview he gave to The Honolulu Advertiser where he stated he was only interested in fighting Sherk if he were to be cleared of steroid use. He also joked that his bout with Joe Stevenson would be for the “natural” lightweight championship.

The full interview can be read here.

At this point I don’t give a damn about Sherk. I’d rather see BJ vs Joe right now. After the final decision from the CSAC, I’ll see how I feel.

I’d like to see BJ and Joe right now as well. Personally for me, Sherk is not exciting.
