CSAC Issues 2nd Continuance In Sherk Banned Substance Hearing

Written by UFCscene

The UFC’s champion woes continue as UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk’s appeal is postponed until Nov. 13. That wouldn’t be such a calamity were it not for the fact that all there other champs are out for one reason or another.

The Welterweight belt is on hold until Dec. 29 for the current season of the “Ultimate Fighter”, Middleweight belt holder Anderson Silva just fought and barring Dan Henderson dropping to 185 a credible contender doesn’t really exist, Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is out with a wrist injury and there’s no clear cut #1 contender anyway, and finally Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture’s status is still up in the air as the UFC & Couture are engaged in a battle of dueling press conferences.

LAS VEGAS, NV October 31, 2007 – At a hearing in Los Angeles today, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) granted a second continuance for UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk’s appeal of his positive test for the banned substance “Nandrolone” after his July 7th win over Hermes Franca at UFC 73 in Sacramento. The continuance will allow the CSAC to review documents submitted by Sherk’s attorney. It is expected that Sherk’s continued appeal will take place in the next meeting Nov. 13, 2007.
